Otto Tschudi is a Norwegian alpine skier best known for his success on the American NCAA circuit and the World Pro Skiing Tour. Growing up at Norefjell Ski Resort, where his parents owned a slopeside hotel, he was named to Norway's national team at 14. After a 10th-place World Cup debut at Kitzbühel in 1968 and two Olympic appearances, he was recruited to the University of Denver, where he won five individual NCAA championships between 1970 and 1972.
Turning pro after the Sapporo Games, Otto raced Bob Beattie's dual-format World Pro Skiing Tour for a decade while simultaneously building a business career — launching the padded Otto Racing suit line, directing skiing at Winter Park Resort, serving as president of the Professional Ski Racers Association, and later moving into finance.
It was on that pro tour, in 1973, that Otto claimed victory at the Benson & Hedges Pro Ski Classic in Steamboat Springs, Colorado — a race emblematic of the era's glamorous, sponsor-fueled circuit, when tobacco companies like Benson & Hedges were among the biggest bankrollers of major sporting events.

To care for your hat, spot-clean gently with cool water and a mild soap (avoid soaking the foam front or putting it in the washing machine). Reshape and air-dry. Store it brim-up to help it keep its structure.
If the foam gets dented or bends, a handheld steamer works great to relax it back into shape — just steam lightly and let it cool.
