1987 Bicycle USA Half Century Purple Trucker
Product Details
1987 Bicycle USA Half Century patch handstitched onto a purple OTTO-brand foam trucker hat.
The League of American Wheelmen (now The League of American Bicyclists) was founded in 1880. More than 100k bicyclists, known then as “wheelmen,” joined the League to advocate for paved roads to better enjoy their new sport. The success of the League in its first advocacy efforts ultimately led to our national highway system. The League of American Wheelmen started going by “Bicycle USA” colloquially in 1984 to be more inclusive.
This patch ride in 1987 was the first in a series of four from which four patches could be earned - the patches fit together to make one large patch.
One made. When it's gone, it's gone.
Care & Maintenance
To care for your hat, spot-clean gently with cool water and a mild soap (avoid soaking the foam front or putting it in the washing machine). Reshape and air-dry. Store it brim-up to help it keep its structure.
If the foam gets dented or bends, a handheld steamer works great to relax it back into shape — just steam lightly and let it cool.

Every Paper Thief hat is one of a kind. Patches are sourced from thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets, etc. — they come with age, wear, and history. Minor fading, small imperfections, and signs of life are to be expected and are represented in the product photo(s).
